My client is a local food manufacturer, making wholesome, natural food.  They are looking for a strong Operations Manager to plan, organize direct, and control the activities of the production facility. The Manager is responsible for the performance of all Production Departments including Facilities, Production, & Warehousing, on their shifts. This position must implement and ensure that all HACCP standards and company standards are met and that the entire production staff stays in compliance with these policies and procedures.


 Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborates with the Management Team to establish, communicate, and execute measurable production and cultural goals and objectives in support of plant operations. Install measurements systems that provide an ongoing real time status towards achieving the day-to-day requirements.
  • Implements production operations to meet prescribed productivity and quality goals to ensure adherence with production schedules. Foster an environment of continuous improvement and learning to achieve and maintain industry leadership.
  • Support the implementation and administration of all quality and food safety programs.
  • Review and approve the implementation of manufacturing and organizational plans that support the Operations Master plan
  • Support all quality programs as necessary to comply with customer regulatory and company standards (Quality Programs include Sanitation, Vendor Certification, Incoming Good Inspection, HACCP, Pest control, GMPs, Noncompliance/Hold)
  • Develop, implement, monitor and update all Production, Process, and Sanitation SOPs
  • Assist with the hiring of Production Supervisors and staff.
  • Train and develop all Production Supervisors and staff.
  • Ensure the facility is always inspection-ready through daily preparation of all documents.
  • Observe employees during production to ensure that all USDA & FDA regulations are met and the HACCP plan is followed.

  • Direct, monitor, and appraise the performance of employees immediately reporting and provide the necessary coordination between activities
  • Keep employees informed as to company and department plans and progress.
  • Communicate and work well with senior management.
  • Anticipate problem issues before they arise and take corrective action.
  • Coach the production team towards common objectives. Apply sound motivational and correctional techniques, including employee counseling, disciplinary actions, and recognitions for good work in collaboration with Human Resources. 
  • Maintain a productive, positive, and motivated workforce.
  • Stays abreast of employee contributions and potential growth so that opportunities for greater contributions can be capitalized.
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality, health and safety, food safety, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by manager.
  • Create and maintain an organized, clean, and safe workplace.
  • Model, support, and ensure compliance to operational standards, company culture, beliefs, and values.
  • Leads the management team, directly and indirectly, in searching for improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in recruitment and staff selection process.
  • Administers and controls department absenteeism and overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs use an aerial lift and work in warehouse with seasonal temperature variations.
  • Intermediate level of MS Office
  • Excellent supervisory, leadership, problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to make timely and critical decisions –able to work under conditions of stress and deal with a multitude of tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s Degree
