Position Title: Production/Engineering Manager

Position Summary: 

The Production/Engineering Manager will supervise the machine shop and assembly area, which includes the allocation of work to employees, managing priorities and managing personnel. The incumbent will drive positive change in the business to support our growth plans. Continued training and development of our talent and leading continuous improvement processes throughout the facility is essential. 
The position requires high level programming knowledge of CNC Swiss & Lathe equipment to provide a level of quality that meets drawing requirements and is machined utilizing the most economical process. 

This is a day shift position that reports to the President/Owner of the business. The 2nd shift Leader also reports to the Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and manage CNC production equipment including support as required in engineering, estimating, material and quality control. Ensure that spindle up-time is at maximum capacity.
  • Direct responsibility for creating CNC programs, assist in setting-up new projects, editing and troubleshooting if necessary.
  • Coordinate secondary processes as needed.
  • Planning of work schedules, machines, assignments, and operation sequences to meet production requirements, including the allocation of equipment.
  • Assure capacity levels are maintained to match demand in both short- and long-term requirements.
  • Build on a high performing customer-focused team developing existing employee's skills and support in recruiting new team members.
  • Enforce safety and all compliance regulations.
  • Assure that equipment is adequately maintained and safely operated.
  • Order consumable tools and supplies for machine shop.
Required Experience:
  • In depth knowledge of CNC Swiss turning centers.
  • Prior direct experience in setup, programming, operation and troubleshooting of CNC Swiss machines & CNC Lathes.
  • Knowledge of Excel/Word/Outlook/PC Office Systems.
  • Ability to read and understand component drawings in multiple industry standards.
  • Ability and the appreciation of the need to work in an environment with constantly changing priorities.
  • Perform and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong understanding company quality standards and requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with department staff, other business managers, suppliers and customers.
  • Works as a team member to troubleshoot manufacturing problems with a key focus on continuous improvement. 
Education & Experience Required:
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a CNC machine shop with knowledge of world class manufacturing procedures.
  • Must have and demonstrate excellent conceptual skills, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation skills, tooling, coordination, attention to detail, and judgment.
  • High School diploma required
  • College degree a strong plus
