The System Administrator maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating system issues. The System Administrator also works in tandem with the Network Administrator to ensure the network is kept in a cost effective and stable state of operation with minimal downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the list below. Other Duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Understanding of Application & OS Security, including virus scan management and patching
Demonstrate ability to work with application owners to formulate, troubleshoot and document application installation
Strong working knowledge of Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Management
Perform and monitor all network backup procedures for network servers and workstations for all facilities. Update backup software and procedure as needed related to operating system changes and version changes
Provide desktop support for all network users and remote users that access our network internally or via our VPN
Able to analyze alerts from various monitoring tools and take appropriate action
Desktop/Laptop/Server setup and maintenance on current windows operating systems, office suite, ERP client access software and other client-server software applications that may be needed
Maintain and support print server and all network printers
Perform administration, user support, thick/thin client support, and version upgrades of the company electronic document imaging system
Strong understanding of File/Folder permissions
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
Support cloud based and on-site virtualization platforms (IaaS, BaaS, DRaaS)
Understanding of Microsoft products, including Server 2012/2016, Exchange Server, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with O365 is a plus.
Administer, maintain, and support all the company’s security and remote access devices enabling the company firewall and VPN processes and assist where needed with user portal connection to network.
Learn and support the company RF data collection and bar-coding system which consists of wireless hand-held scanner hardware, ERP data collection application, and enterprise labeling software.
Assist as needed in the implementation of new business technologies
Working knowledge of VMWare vSphere and Veeam Backup & Replication
Maintain company IT inventory assets and warranty information
Understand and adhere to IT and company policies and advise the user community in adherence
Administer, maintain, and support Terminal Server and user access
Keep or create documentation of the hardware/software configurations and procedure to maintain processes
Be on call for after hours support on a rotating schedule
Training, Education & Experience:
A 4-year technical degree is preferred but consideration will be given on a case by case basis where relevant work experience exists
Experience required for this position is a minimum 5 years in related functions and demonstrated ability to work well with end-users. The candidate must be self-disciplined and show initiative, must be able to deal with day to day problems and provide resolutions on a timely basis. The position will on occasion require duties to be performed after normal business hours and on weekends or holidays.
